There are many things I love about being a florist in a small bricks and mortar store, the relationships we build working in such a small and intimate setting, being surrounded by beautiful flowers and expressing creativity doing what we love every day.
Working with nature
Being surrounded each day by stunning fresh flowers is wonderful. You’re environment definitely has an affect on how you feel and it’s hard not feel super happy working somewhere filled with something that is not only lovely to look at but that genuinely gives you joy. Each day we get the most beautiful flowers and we get to use our creativity to design something beautiful for each customer. We also love that the majority of our flowers are from Australian farms allowing us to provide that From Farm To Florist To Your Door vibe. Australia has some of the beast flowers available and knowing the growers on a first name basis is the best feeling in the world.
Spreading happiness
We are so privileged to get the opportunity to help spread happiness and love with our flower deliveries. When you think of a time you received a lovely bunch of flowers (or any lovely gift) from someone, whether it was a special occasion or totally unexpected, there’s no better feeling than knowing someone cares about you. We get to be a part of that feeling and that is what makes us love what we do. We are lucky that we are able to offer same day delivery to Canberra, Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra with our lovely courier and get some beautiful fresh flowers or a hamper to your loved one.
No two days are the same
If you asked me “what do you do all day” I would struggle to give you an answer. The truth is in floristry no two days the same. I never know what's going to happen or who's going to come through the door, or what unusual opportunities may appear that day. Infact I could be having a normal day with not much going on, sorting through all the wedding consultations when I get an email about producing flowers for an event at Parliament House or the National Gallery of Australia. This is what I mean about not knowing what may come your way?!
17 years ago when I had an office job my days were boring, predictable and tedious. In truth I did not value how much I love the fact that every single day can be completely different, my days are unpredictable, challenging and as far from boring as they could possibly get.
They do say that variety is the spice of life and floristry is very varied.
Floristry is unpredictable, full of emotion, and in general just a complete roller-coaster ride. I couldn't imagine living life each day doing anything else.
