4 FREE OUTINGS IN CANBERRA THESE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

The school holidays are well on the way and Canberra has plenty of free places to visit for the whole family. Here are our top 5.

1. THE DRONE SHOW

Marking a first in Canberra, this week from January 24-26th head to Commonwealth Place where 600 drones will illuminate the night sky, telling a series of mesmerising stories that reflect the soul of Australia.

There will be markets and live entertainment from 5:00pm followed by the Drone Shows at 9:00pm and 10:00pm.

 

2. NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AUSTRALIA

The National Museum has always been a favourite among Canberrans with an easy to get to location and plenty of picnic spots around the lake just outside the museum for the kids to enjoy. Their collection is linked to key moments, people and places in Australian history and culture. Entry is free though costs apply for some events and special exhibitions.

3. NATIONAL BOTANICAL GARDENS

Located just minutes from the city the gardens offering a breathtaking array of native plants in a stunning bushland setting, this is also the only place in the world you’ll see this diversity of Australian native plants in one location.

4. NATIONAL ARBORETUM 

With over over 20 kilometres of multi-purpose tracks that wind through the mosaic of living  forests and stunning views of Canberra the the National Arboretum is sure to please. The gardens boast over 44,000 rare and endangered trees across the 250-hectare site, enjoy a picnic at one of the many beautiful lookout points and enjoy an afternoon of sunshine with the family.
